As the global fashion industry evolves, balancing the celebration of cultural heritage with responsible and sensitive representation becomes increasingly critical. Threads of Heritage explores the role of AI within this context, investigating how emerging technologies can participate in culturally informed design practices.

Using tools such as ChatGPT-4, Gab AI, and Midjourney, the project documents and critically examines the creation of a fashion brand inspired by the artisanal and cultural heritage of Colombia. The work evaluates AI’s ability to interpret cultural nuance and ethical design standards, exploring prompt development, structural biases, visual coherence, and cultural translation through brand identity and image generation.

Ultimately, the project reflects on human and machine collaboration as a speculative and critical design process, examining its potential to engage with tradition in a respectful and thoughtful way.
