The Cassette Groove

Visual Design / 2024

Cassette Groove is an editorial publication that reconstructs the experience of discovering music before the streaming era, when access was mediated by physical objects, visual culture, and personal exploration.

The project draws from printed music magazines, fanzine aesthetics, and the graphic codes of MTV culture and the early 2000s web, using them as a language to recover a more tangible relationship with music. Opening a CD, reading the booklet, collecting images, cutting out magazine titles to create collages, and building identity through visuals become the starting point of the editorial system.

The first issue of the newsletter focuses on Queen as an entry point into the musical archive. Rather than documenting their history, the publication reinterprets their legacy through the visual language of the 2000s, setting the tone for an editorial series that explores how different generations consume, reinterpret, and construct meaning around music.

Cassette Groove is conceived as an independent, collectible magazine, designed to be kept, revisited, and inhabited, reclaiming the physical and emotional value of music as an experience.
